Building life skills and working towards recovery goals
Free mental health support for Logan-Beaudesert children and young people (7 to 17 years) with, or at risk of complex mental illness.
The Accoras Commonwealth Psychosocial Support Program (CPSP) provides clinical and non-clinical brief intervention to children and young people aged 7-17 who have complex mental health presentations and reduced psychosocial functioning. Our CPSP is a free outreach service which aims to help children and young people to build life skills and work towards recovery goals while also strengthening and improving their functional capacity and resilience.
Our CPSP can assist with:
Key focus areas for children aged 7-12:
Social skills, friendships and family connections;
Daily living needs and functioning;
Physical wellbeing, including exercise and a healthy routine;
Understanding healthy relationships and protective behaviours; and
Developing confidence and resilience.
Additional focus areas for adolescents aged 13-17:
Managing drug and alcohol addictions (including tobacco);
Financial management and budgeting;
Finding and maintaining a safe and secure home; and
Vocational skills and goals, including volunteering, education and training.
About our CPSP:
Our CPSP provides goal focused, holistic tailored support to children and young people aged 7 to 17 years living in the Logan-Beaudesert region who have, or are at risk of complex mental illness, and who are not eligible for NDIS support.
Our Child, Youth and Family Practitioners work therapeutically alongside children and young people (and their parents and caregivers) to enhance factors such as education and employment, emotional health and wellbeing, physical health and wellbeing and resilience by providing client-centred, family focused interventions and psychoeducation work. Similarly, our Mental Health Clinicians provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to support the recovery and management of some mental health conditions, such as Anxiety and Depression, whilst providing clinical care coordination alongside other medical and allied health professionals.
Children and young people who work with our CPSP experience improved capacity to manage their mental health, such as the ability to regulate their big emotions, enhanced resilience and mental health literacy, and overall improvements in functioning across a variety of life domains.
